Common Threads

Here's a poem I wrote for our annual Orange County GIS brunch. The theme was Common Threads, and that is the title of the poem. So many of my friends were the inspiration for it.

This common thread
the one that runs
through us
between us
around us

Once so fragile
so slender
so dark

How frightened we were
that it would snap suddenly
or unravel slowly
sending the pieces to fly with the wind

This common thread
holding our pieces together
connecting our hearts
golden now
and stronger.
