sides of family. Child quit breathing and son (mentally disabled) tried to revive. infant
was second child. died. DA said son intentionally killed his own child. not true. jury
felt because son was mentally disabled he must be violent. opposite. he is passive and
socially about 16 yrs old. He has been horribly abuses by TDCJ and inmates and doctors
because of his conviction, illnesses, mild manner, and young mind. Please, help me find a

Comments: My husband and I have a five month old little boy. His name is Gregory.
We live in Jackson, Ohio. Two nights ago I put him down to sleep on his back. While he was
taking his nap I went to the kitchen to do some dishes real quick. He was right around the
corner in the living room. Not five minutes later I went in to check on him. His lips were
blue and he was limp! I picked him up and sat him upright on my lap and rubbed his back
and face. He finally took the deepest gasp of air into his little lungs and started to
cry. I tought for sure that we had lost him to SIDS. We took him to the emergency room and
he was admitted. They ran some tests and put him on a monitor. He was diagnosed with a
form of sleep apnea. We thank God that we found him in time. It could have been to late. |

Comments: I lost my first child when I was 22 weeks pregnant, in 1993. I have found
support on the web, and was looking into the SIDS sites for just a little more support -
it seems I have seen and read all the miscarrage and stillbirth sites. I have been touched
by these stories, and have felt that you all understand my suffering, having lost babies
yourselves. However, at one site I read someone who lost a child to SIDS saying that my
child was not a child who died because he was not born first. She equated my loss to the
loss of a pet. I would just like to say that I do understand the pain you all suffer. Mine
is different, but not less. While you have lost babies you had a chance to see and hold
while they were alive, I never had that chance. You grieve memories and your child. I
grieve hope and my child. God Bless you all, until we can hold our little ones forever. |

Comments: My husband and I just lost our baby girl, Mariah, to SIDS on March 3,
1997, at Loma Linda Childrens Hospital, she was only 3 1/2 months. Through thise site I
found the clipping from the Washington Post-"Most health-care professionals believe
that today's parents can reduce the risk of SIDS in their own babies." During all my
prenatal visits and at the hospital, when I had her, noone ever gave any info. on SIDS.
And my question is WHY? SIDS is just as real as AIDS, Cancer,ect...., there needs to be
more done about it and I am willing to help in anyway. I want to thank Jesus for taking
good care of our baby girl. Mommy and daddy will see you "One Sweet Day" baby

beginning I was obsessed with my lost pregnancy and the possibility of becoming pregnant
again. I guess I still do feel that way. It was nice to find that other people had felt or
are feeling the same way I am. Funny enough, I am a health care provider who deals with
these issues often. I have been having a difficult time listening to my rational mind. I

Brian at 4 lbs 10 oz and Brandon at 5 lbs. 10 oz. They had some feedig problems at first,
but with round the clock feedings they learned to eat well. They were beautiful healty
babies thriving with growth and development. They went for their 2 month checkup on 3/5/97
and made out great. They started their 1st set of immunizations. Brian 8lbs 11oz, Brandon
9lbs 5oz. All they did was smile and sleep. They were the Best. On Friday morning 5:00 am
I awoke to Brian gray in color and not breathing...It was the worst day of our lives...
Brian died in his sleep. Brandon was fine, Thank God. I'll never understand how a
perfectly healthy baby can die in his sleep and no one can give answers.. If it takes me

My thoughts go now to those in heaven and how lucky they must be,
to be able to see my grandson's smile and his climbing up on God's knee.
On earth we said his prayers each night when we laid him down to sleep.
For the lord his little soul to bless and safe and warm him keep.
His every waking moment was such pure joy to behold
We loved him more each passing day as we would rock and sing and hold.
Santa had come and gone this year and a birthday soon to be.
But his walk, his talk and his loving face we never more will see.
For the silent baby killer came and took him in his sleep,
And left us desolate and alone to long for him and weep.
I want everyone in heaven to know that another child comes now
From a family broken and spent with grief longing to touch his brow.
So rock him gently now for us and hold him tight each day.
Tell him to wait and grow and learn while we on earth must stay.
Let him know that one day soon we will join him in your throng.
Rejoicing to see his face again for his touch our heart does long.
The tiniest angels must be those God needed most of all.
As the reason he took them when he did makes no sense on earth at all.

Henry Garcia to SIDS on February 25, 1997. He was a premature baby born 2 months early. He
died at the babysitters while my sister was on her way to pick him up. As expected the

The loss split up her mother and father. They had 2 children after her death. I feel your

Anderson was stillborn - probably because of an auto-immune disease that I likely have.
Problems with blood pressure and finally shut him off from the placenta. I'd love to talk
to others with similar problems. We want to try for another baby and will have to wait

biological "diving" reflex in water-going birds and animals, whereby the
application of cold to the nose of a duck, loon, otter, etc., immediately shut off

Comments: West Des Moines, Iowa. I just found this site through a search and I
think it is a great place to be. I have not lost a child to SIDS, but I have had 3
miscarriages. The first one took place when I was 19 and only 6-8 weeks pregnant. The
doctors didn't seem surprised, told me the national averages for miscarriages, and I
accepted it. About 4 years later, I got pregnant again and the doctors told me not to
worry, that 2 miscarriages can be normal but when I get pregnant again, they will monitor
me closely to avoid this happening again. Well, 3 months later I found out I was pregnant
and made an appointment to be seen ASAP and the soonest they could get me in was 1 short
week from then. Well, everyone, including the doctors thought that would be plenty of
time, but it wasn't. I miscarried within 5 days of finding out, and my first prenatal
appointment turned into being the worst day of my life. Now, at age 27, I am still
childless, my parents still grandchildless, and I still don't know why I can't carry. All
my pregnancies occured within the first 6-8 weeks. I am hoping that after my fiance and I
get married, we can start a complete workup and get this mystery solved and hopefully,

Comments: I signed the guestbook last November but my e-mail has changed since
then. I still have the same question - has anyone ever heard of a child dying of SIDS
while awake? I've only heard of SIDS deaths happening when a child is asleep. Our healthy
8-month old son, Joe, died last November while awake and active but so far no cause of
death has been determined and the doctors and medical examiners are labeling it a
"SIDS death". I have asked them all if there have ever known of another awake
child who has died from SIDS and they all have said no. Does anyone know where I could go
to research this? (His last shot was two months before his death so it doesn't appear to
be a reaction to a vacination.) Thank you. |

Comments: I am going to the doctor today. I have had bleeding all weekend and
started passing some tissue yesterday. I've had no pain, for which I'm very grateful. I
will be very surprised if I have not miscarried, because I've noticed gray tissue (after
reading I know that's a bad sign). My husband and I are trying to really talk about it and
start to grieve BEFORE we have to hear the doctor confirm it. We had our first visit and

Comments: Our beloved son Justin Nicholas died on Feb. 13, 1997 at four months. He
died at my friend's house while my husband and I were at work. She called the ambulance
and they worked on him for an hour in the E.R. but there was nothing they could do. I will
never forget the overwhelming feelings that swept over me; rage, loss, helplessness,
intense saddness, and disbelief. It has only been a couple of weeks since he passed but
for some reason it feels as though months have gone by. Suddenly there is no baby to keep
me up nights and no hungry cries to tend to. I miss those times as much as those happy
times when he would smile and giggle and he would fill our hearts with joy. I wonder if
this pain will ever go away. We miss our little angel terribly. |

child, Sarah Elizabeth to SIDS. She was 3 1/2 months old. Since our painful loss, she has
given us the strength to continue with our lives. There is not a day that goes by that we

Comments: My son Bryce had an ALTE on 9/26/97. He is fine now and has been on an
apnea monitor since then with nothing but equipment alarms. However, in the past month, he
has had several low heart rate alarms and two apnea alarms. He wakes up when the alarm
sounds and all the download indicate that they may acutally be false alarms. I am just
wondering why, after being on this monitor for 5 months, is it giving us all of these
terrifying alarms?? The respiratory therapist says "you really don't need to worry
about it" but I'm scared to death. Our pediatrician wanted to take him off the
monitor when he was 9 months old--he'll be 9 months old in two weeks. Just needed to get
some worries off my chest. We're from Sullivan, MO. |
