believe alot of people have different theories on SIDS, but the sad truth is there is no
real answers. I think that in itself makes it so much harder to accept. I find myself
believing the theories that applied more to Spencer's condition, he was a sound sleeper
and was found on his tummy. But, what about the babies who are being held in their parents
arms, and are restless sleepers? I would love to have an answer for this terrible thing
that has ripped my heart in two. As would we all. I also would love to hear from any other
mother's, especially of twins, how has experienced this misfortune. 2619 F Avenue,

the 15th September 1987. Probable cause most likely to have been cytomegalo virus and
rapidly cut off his air supply 2 days prior to due date. I had an older daughter Jessie
who was the greatest help at this time. I tried to have more children but not for about 2
years after his death. I then went on the have 4 early miscarriages( doctor unable to
explain) probably stress related. But I kept on trying and now I have 2 other children,
Nicholas who is nearly 5 and Sarah who is 3. |

Comments: I live in Alhambra, CA, a suburb of Los Angeles. My second son and second
child, Christopher Aaron Oda was born on January 26, 1996, and died of SIDS one day before
3 months on April 25, 1996. Sunday was his first birthday. He was at home napping when his
dad found him at 10:30am. I was at work (just returned to work 2 weeks). The paramedics
said Chris could be revived since he had a strong heartbeat. My husband Steve signed the
papers to let Chris go peacefully because he had minimal brain activity. We had decided
long ago that life support was not an option for any of us. We are both in the health
profession, and have seen too many of these sad cases. Christopher was a vibrant, active,
beautiful baby. He is survived by his older brother, Matthew, who was 5 at the time and
was at school. When Chris was born, I had a postpartum tubal ligation done. In July, I had
a reversal and we are trying to get pregnant again. I have many sad, angry, mixed emotions
about this. I would love to have another baby in my empty, aching arms again. On the other
hand, I feel a tremendous amount of guilt because I feel I'm betraying my precious
Christopher. Every day, I think of the wonderful 3 months we had with him and thank God
for that. I also thank God for my sweet Mattie, who is at times my ONLY reason for living.
The SIDS support groups have been wonderful. Steve doesn't go to the meetings with me yet.
I would love to hear from anyone who has had a subsequent baby after a tubal reversal. My
e-mail address is: AhnOda@msn.com. My family had a quiet birthday party for Chris on
Sunday. Matthew blew out the candle for Chris. I imagine he would be running around by now
since he was a very active boy. Chrissie, I wish you a very happy first birthday! You sit
on my shoulder and live in my heart forever. I love you and miss you so much. I patiently
wait for the day when I'll see you and hold you in my arms again. Love Always, Mommy. |

it wasn't that long ago that this happened. This is something that I deal with everyday of

stressful. I have a constant fear that this will happen again. I think I might be able to

always been aware of SIDS, and want to do everything I can when I have children to prevent
it, but it scares me because what can you do? A little girl in my neighborhood died on
Christmas Eve in 1992. Her family was devastated because her death was completely
unexplained. We were all affected by it. They suspected SIDS. I don't know why some people
are chosen to endure such hardship and trial, especially around the holidays, but I do
know one thing and that is God will never give us something to endure that we are not
strong enough to overcome, although we may always feel the loss. I truly feel sorry for
those of you whose stories I've read who have suffered a loss so painful. My heart and my
sincere prayers go out to you. God bless you, and I hope one day we will be able to
prevent this. |

Comments: Our best friends, Paul and Beth Miozza lost their first born son at 7
weeks. My wife Eileen is involved with the Louisville, KY support group and they are
having a golf scramble for a fund raiser in summer '97. If anyone is interested in
supporting or volunteering, I am sure the Louisville support group would appreciate the
help. |

Comments: I am in Gillette, Wyoming. I am currently receiving mail from Irvine
,California . As far as I am told Wyoming does not have any support groups. Currently I am
working with the Campbell County Memorial Hospital to receive information and start a
support group, that will give information to parents of SIDS. My husband and I lost out 7
month old daughter to SIDS on Feb 8, 1996 and are looking for contacts. We are interested
in all the information that we can get out hands on. Thank you!!!! S. Feddersen |

Comments: we lost our first child to an infection at 5 1/2 months into our
pregnancy. It is the hardest thing we have ever been thru. It is hard to go into the empty
nursery and think of all of the '"what-ifs" We have found comfort and strength
from the book WHEN GOD DOES'NT MAKE SENSE by DR, JAMES DOBSON. Instead of being angry at
God it helped us realize that is where our help was waiting. It happened on Easter weekend
of 1996, The greif does not go away but it does get easier. God Bless those who are going
thru this loss. |
