KEEGAN PATRICK MORGAN on 31 Oct 97 due to SIDS. We are dealing with his passing and are
trying to understand why; but by far the toughest part for us is dealing with our 5
year-old son Liam and how losing his baby brother affects him. There was no greater joy in
our lives than watching our two sons interact with each other. The support we recieved and
continue to recieve from family, friends and strangers alike has been greatly appreciated.
He will be loved and truly missed until our dying days. May he rest in peace with the

Comments: Our son Nicholas Robert Vollbrecht was born on
August 12, 1997 and died on August 27, 1997. He was 8 lbs, 14 oz. at birth and completely
healthy. He was a happy, fun baby who smiled a lot from the day he was born. On Wednesday,
August 27, 1997, while Mara nursed him, Nicky went into a "collapse" (that's the
term the doctors use -- sometimes they call it a "SIDS episode"). He stopped
breathing and his heart stopped pumping. Mara began CPR within one and a half to two
minutes of not being able to wake him up. The paramedics took over within minutes. Somehow
the doctors at North Memorial Medical Center in Robbinsdale, Minnesota got his heart
started again. However, Nicky never breathed on his own again. After being transferred to
Children's Hospital in Minneapolis, Nicky died between 6:00 p.m and 8:00 p.m. that
evening. He never breathed on his own again and his heart ultimately failed and he died.
Nicky's older sister Colleen misses him as do his parents. |

Comments: I lost my niece, Lauryn Alexa 4 months ago today.
She was only 4 months and 10 days old when she died of SIDS. I don't know if I'll ever
really understand why and how. But I do know that a lot of people sure do miss her. I miss
her soooo very much. I was fortunate enough to spend a few months with her prior to her
passing away. My sister and my brother-in-law were kind enough to let me take care of her.
Those are moments that I'll never forget. When I think of Lauryn, I can't help but smile.
I remember the way she smiled at me when I gave her a bath or fed her a bottle. I remember
the way her hair smelled and the cute outfits she wore. I remember how she used to suck
her thumb and her hand. I remember the adorable looks on her face especially when she does
that thing with her eyebrows! She has the most beautiful face. She has the most perfect
parents. Sometimes I feel so angry. I think it's not fair that two perfect people who
would do anything for anyone and even more for people they love should have such a
horrible thing happen to them. But I just have to continue having faith and I say to
myself that there's a reason for everything. But it does NOT take away the pain. Lauryn
was the sweetest most gentle baby. I will never forget her. She has my sister's adorable
smile and spunkiness. She has my brother-in-law's gentle loving eyes. Thank you both for
letting me be a part of her life. I miss her very much. I will never forget her. I'm very
glad this site exists. Thanks for letting me vent. |
