Comments: My son Anthony Morgan was born on September 22, 1997 and died on January
7, 1998 at his care-givers home. Anthony was a very healthy 3 1/2 month old. My husband,
John, and I are now expecting our second child, a girl. She is due on February 25. I have
read the articles I have found on monitoring, but we still are both confused about
choosing to use a monitor or not. I am very nervous either way at this point. I would like
to hear from anyone who has used a monitor on a subsequent child. I love you and miss you

When I was 3 months old I quit breathing on my mom and she was able to able to give me
mouth to mouth. The doctors said that I had SIDS. I have heard that you can only be
diagonsed with SIDS if you don't make it. I came on the web to find any information about

Comments: I have been viewing this web site for the first time today and would be
interested in views/comments/information on the following. Whn our baby daughter was a few
weeks old - I woke in the night to find her in her cot - completely 'Grey', I pulled her
from her moses basket and shouted. Fortunately - she woke after a few seconds (what seemed
like minutes)and we are extremely fortunate to have her here today. She was admitted to
hospital and kept in for 'test' for a few days, we now have an apnea monitor for her and
are very very lucky indeed - there has been no clear medical diagnosis and she still has
'episodes' of this happening. We have been told that apparently some babies quote
"just forget to breathe" - I would be interested to know if there is any
information on this - and I know we are extremely lucky to have our baby still here - but
she is now 8 months old and apparently this may continue until 1 or 2 years old? |

Comments: We lost our son Dylan Alan to SIDS on July 10, 1996. He was only 4 1/2
mos. old. My husband has two daughters and I have two sons from previous marriages. Dylan
was "everybody's" baby. I had my tubes tied when I gave birth to him because we
thought five was enough for us. We have definitely all been healing at a different pace.
Two of my sisters and a sister-in-law all had babies within two years of Dylan's death.

named him John Michael named after a friend of ours. his birth day is 6/17/86.. This was
my 2nd son I was happy to have 2 very homesome boys.. I remember also feeling very blest..
my husband lost a nephew just 2 days before John MIchael's was borned.. I felt so sorry
for Pat not knowing what to say or do to give her comfort... but on July 22 we woke to
fine John Michael dead I remember feeling like I should have be able to do something.. I

Comments: My first child was born November 29,1997. Jordan Elizabeth appeared to be
a normal, healthy baby girl. Ten hours after her birth she stopped breathing for no
apparent reason. The nurses were able to revive her, but she was in an irreversable coma
due to severe brain damage. She died on March 8, 1998. After second opinions, and every
possible test, there were no answers as to why she stopped breathing. Her doctor
encouraged us to think of it as a SIDS death even though she does not fit into the normal
time frame for SIDS. In April of 1998 I miscarried, and in May of the same year I found
out I was pregnant again. That baby is due in a little under 3 weeks. I am very scared,
and would love to hear from parents who have endured subsequent pregnancies. |

Comments: Our son Dylan died suddenly at six weeks old on Oct. 19, 1998. His death
was not ruled as SIDS as he did not die quietly in his sleep. However, the autopsy
revealed no abnormalities or cause of death. We miss him terribly, and now that the shock
has worn off, depression has set in. The holidays were almost unbearable. We would like to
have another baby but are fearful of something similar happening again. Also, I have
become very overprotective of my 3-year old daughter. I think it would be very helpful to
hear from other parents who had similar feelings but went on to have more children anyway.

Comments: Hi we lost are Sweet Baby Danika Emily Kay Carnell-Riley to SIDS on Dec.
19, 1998. She was born Sept. 23, 1998. SIDS seems to run in are family. 27yrs ago my
parents lost a baby boy to SIDS my brother. My cousins lost there little baby boy to SIDS
2 yrs ago. I told the doctors that delivered Danika about the history. I found out that
after she passed away that they were suppost to offer me a monitor. But because the health
system has deteriorated so badly. THey don't pay attention to there patients needs.
Because they don't care We lost are Sweet Baby Danika. The next time that we have a baby
it'll have to be by the only doctor that I trust. And it is one that hasn't delivered
babies in 30 yrs. We miss and love are daughter very much something that will never go
away. Nor will the hurt and anger that she was taken from us. She was a very happy and
healthy baby. You would figure that after 27yrs they would have a cure. They have cures
for everything else. Obviously the only people that care are the ones that lose there
babies to this tragic killer. My uncle was in a car wreck when he was on his way down for
Danika's funeral. He was very lucky that he was not killed. My auntie died of cancer
Jan.6, 1999. There isn't much more that we can take right now. It's like there is no god.
We love you Sweet Baby Danika and miss you very much Love your Mommy and Daddy for ever
and always |

pregnant again. Excited and scared. Would love to hear from anyone who is now or has had

Comments: At this time 12 weeks ago my husband and I were at the hospital holding
our sweet, beautiful baby son Michael for the last time. On Tuesday the 12th, Michael will
be gone for as long as he was here. I can't believe that we have survived this long. I
can't believe the number of people who are trying to survive the loss of their child to
SIDS. I'm suppose to have my time and energy focused on a chubby little 5 1/2 month old

5 1/2 weeks premature. He spent two weeks in a childrens hospital with a collapsed lung.
We were so scared. The day they said he could come home was the happiest day of our lives.
We thought we were home free with no worries. The Dr.s pronounced him healthy as a full

Comments: Tomorrow marks the one year anniversary of my sweet baby Jake's death.
I'm not sure what I'm going to do with myself. I hope I don't get as depressed as I did
when his birthday came. I cannot wait for the day someone finds some definite answers to
SIDS. I have written to a couple of talk shows asking them to do a show on SIDS but
haven't heard anything positive back from them. The Leeza show rubbed me the wrong way as
they e mailed me back very quickly with a standard "blow off" letter. I wrote
them back asking what could possibly be more alarming than the death of a seemingly
healthy baby. And not just a few babies! I also wrote Oprah last May and have not hear
anything yet. I'm sure she gets millions of letters every day. At least she did not blow
me off. I had my tubes tied the day after Jake was born. After a year of writing and
fighting my insurance company, they have, believe it or not, decided to pay to have my
tubes reversed. If anyone out there has the same problem as I had, please feel free to e
mail me; I hope I can help. I recently read a great book titled "Roses in
December" by Marilyn Heavlin. If you get a chance, please read it. A few months back
I read "Empty Cradle, Broken Heart" by Deborah L. Davis; another very good book.
